DESIGNING THE HEART OF THE ENGLISH COUNTRYSIDE

As the prime country market continues to show strength in the wake of changing lifestyle priorities, we’ve seen growing demand for turnkey homes that offer not just space, but also character, comfort, and connection to their local surroundings. With hybrid working and a renewed desire for quality of life outside the city, buyers are increasingly looking to the South West, the Home Counties, and beyond.

At Knight Frank Interiors, our in-house team has been busy transforming some truly special countryside homes, breathing new life into them with beautifully curated furniture and styling that speaks directly to today’s buyers. From a sleek, top-floor apartment in Richmond to cosy, character-filled homes in Oxfordshire and Suffolk, each project showcases just how powerful great design can be when it comes to creating spaces that feel instantly welcoming and aspirational. These aren't just styled homes; they’re spaces people can picture themselves living in. And that’s exactly what drives results.

Read on for a closer look at three standout homes that reflect this approach from the design details to the unique charm of their local areas.

Our recent success in dressing countryside properties has shown just how powerful the right presentation can be in accelerating sales.

By working closely with the agents, we have been able to highlight each home’s unique character and appeal to the right buyers, fast.

Queensberry House, Richmond

Located in one of Richmond’s most sought-after areas, Queensberry House is a beautifully presented top-floor apartment that combines timeless architecture with a fresh, modern finish. Large sash windows fill the space with natural light, creating the perfect canvas for our team to elevate the home with a design scheme that feels both polished and welcoming.

Queensberry House sits just a short stroll from Richmond Green, which is known for the riverside and an array of local favourites including boutique shops, cafés, and lively weekend markets. The interiors were designed to complement this lifestyle, blending understated luxury with a relaxed atmosphere that would speak to buyers looking for a stylish home in one of London’s leafiest and most well-connected neighbourhoods.

Queensberry House had been on the market for 6 months with another agent and had received no offers. We came on board and advised the client that we feel it is best for the property to be dressed by Knight Frank Interiors.

The property was dressed with high quality furniture that made it stand out against the competition, within one week of being on the market we received a guide price offer with the buyers interested in buying pieces of furniture from the Interiors Team.

The Ridings, Oxfordshire

Nestled in the peaceful Oxfordshire countryside, The Ridings is a characterful family home that blends rural charm with contemporary styling. Surrounded by greenery and set within easy reach of local villages, the property offered a wonderful foundation which our team were able to enhance with a soft, natural palette and carefully selected furnishings. The result is a home that feels beautifully balanced, instantly inviting, and ready to be lived in.

Set just outside Wheatley, the property is perfectly placed for enjoying local independent shops, traditional pubs, and countryside walks through Shotover Country Park. Whether you’re after peaceful seclusion or a family-friendly village lifestyle, The Ridings offers both in equal measure.

I greatly enjoyed working with the Knight Frank Interiors team. Their help and input on the presentation for this house was significant. It now presents considerably better and has a far more inviting feel to it. I have no doubt it is making a real contribution to buyer engagement.

High House, Suffolk

High House is a stunning Suffolk residence located in a county famous for its “Suffolk Pink” cottages and rich heritage. Our team enhanced the home with a bright and fresh colour palette inspired by the surrounding landscape. Crisp whites and natural tones were used throughout to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The entertaining spaces were carefully styled to highlight their generous proportions using slimline lighting and layered rugs that add texture and comfort while respecting the home’s character with a modern touch.

Suffolk offers a wonderful lifestyle for those who appreciate history and nature. The county’s famous pink cottages trace back to medieval limewash traditions giving the area a unique character. Local attractions include The Food Museum in Stowmarket which provides a fascinating cultural experience. There are also charming village centres filled with history, nearby antique centres to explore, and scenic nature reserves like RSPB Lakenheath that offer outdoor adventures for nature lovers.

I think this may just be one of my favourite projects I’ve worked on in the 9 years I’ve been at Knight Frank Interiors. It’s steeped in history, all the brickwork is just so beautiful, even down to the ornate chimney.

It was very exciting to work on a project so different to the lovely projects we often do in central London. It gave me the opportunity to buy some antique furniture and give it a new lease of life, such as the reupholstering of the chairs. We also added some modern touches through different accessories and bold fabrics, which really lifted the property and made it much more of a family sanctuary. It will be such a great home for the next purchaser.
